Harley Davidson’s official plans to join Indian two wheeler market were reveled Today on New Delhi . Harley’s chief Operating Officer Matthew Levatich along with newly appointed Indian counter part Anoop Prakash announced their expectations on Indian Super bike market . The fully built Harley Davidson cruisers in the range of 883 cc -1550cc will be exported from US to India . There will be about 12-14 models that includes well known names like Fat Boy, Night Rod Special, Roadster and custom build Legend Harley in a price rang of 7 lakhs to 14-lakhs . Harley Davidson targets the super bike segment in India where Suzuki ,Honda and Ducati sells more than 1000 bikes per year .
As per CEO ,Harley started their talks on dealerships in Mumbai ,Bangalore, Chandigarh and Ludhiana. They are only looking for those dealers who can maintain the authentic Harley heritage, The initial shipments will begin at the end of 2009 or the beginning of 2010 .
