The Pulsar 220 DTSi is made for the people who are looking for style and performance.As performance bikes are gaining pace in India, Bajaj decided to rebuild their weapons “the Pulsar’s”.
For many years Bajaj pulsar have been on top in sales and performance.Now the Bajaj has got some powerful enemy’s, so they are rebuilding Pulsars.The recent find is the Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTSi ( the fastest Indian ).

The main changes of Pulsar 220 DTSi from Pulsar 220 DTS Fi include the soft compound tyres , graphic on the quarter fairing and the chiseled 2D logo on tank, soft compound tyres.
The engine is revised with high-lift cam.

DESIGN – PULSAR 220 DTSi

There is no big change in the Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTSi except the matt black styling.Other visible change between the Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTS Fi and Bajaj Pulsar DTSi is the letter ” F ” written in the front scoop.The pilot lamps and the projector head lamps gives the Bajaj Pulsar a unique look.

The exhaust system remains the same with the Exhaust TEC ( Torque Expansion Chamber )technology by the Bajaj which makes the exhaust a little bigger.The exhaust is also equipped with the catalytic converter.

Split seats and clip-on handle bar makes it much more sporty.Digital electric panel includes speedometer, tachometer, fuel indicator, two trip meters, side stand indicator,oil and fuel level indicators.There is also a battery charge indicator which is of prime importance because of the lack of kick start.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION

The Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTSi is powered by 4-stroke , single cylinder DTS-i ( Digital Twin Spark Ignition ) engine with a displacement of 220cc.The engine is air and oil cooled.The 220cc engine of Pulsar 220 DTSi produces a maximum power of 21.04 @ 8500 rpm and a maximum torque is 19.12 @ 7000 Nm.Venturi carburetor with carb controlled variable ignition along with micro controller digital CDA ignition is used.

The transmission is 5 speed constant mesh , which is capable of minimizing the false neutral which is one of the main problems of Bajaj Pulsar.The starting type is electrical and the kick start is not provided.

The front suspension of Pulsar 220 DTSi is telescopic suspension with 130 mm stroke and the rear shock is nitrous.The front brake of Pulsar 220 DTSi is equipped with 260mm Disc and the rear is 230mm Disc which provides ample brake at any speed.The front tyre is 90/90 x 17 and the rear tyre is 120/80 x 17.Both the tyres are tubeless.

Dimensions of Pulsar 220 are : a wheel base of 1350mm and Kreb weight 150Kg.The electrical system is powered a 12V DC

DRIVE

The powerful DTS-i engine kicks out enormous power which let you to fly even in high gears.You fell more performance for Pulsar 220 DTS-i as compared to the Pulsar 220 DTS Fi.The drive is much comfortable because of the tubeless tyres , Telescopic fork and gas filled suspension.The soft tyre provide good grip in high speeds.The Kreb weight of 152 kg maintains high stability and the two disc brakes provides top class safety.

The clip-on handle of Pulsar 220 DTSi can be adjusted in two positions using the clips according to the comfort of the rider.

we made top speed of 140Kmph on road and felt like even 145 kmph is easy. Couldn’t make further because of traffic.The test drives got a top speed of 138.5km/h and whooping 0-100 in 11.1 sec in the Bajajs fabulous test track at Chakan ( by Zig wheels ).

MILEAGE

Instead of fuel injection carburetor is used in Pulsar 220 DTSi. You will get a mileage around 40 – 45kmpl.The fuel tank of Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTSi has 15litres capacity with a 3.2 liter reserve out of which 2.2 liters is unusable.
